High-profile Speakers are Highlight of GTC's
Membership Meetings

By Annie Mondell

To say the least, Greater Towson Committee members are getting their money's worth when it comes to valuable information flowing from their membership meetings.

Highlighting their November meeting was Councilman Vince Gardina who spoke about some of the upcoming initiatives for the Towson business district. GTC members were informed that a committee has been created to address some of the issues facing the Towson business district, and a final draft report is due out shortly.

Councilman Gardina also briefed the members about the County's proposed Renaissance Revitalization Pilot Program, however, he left most of the intricacies of the program for Jeff Long to address.

Jeff Long, deputy director of the Baltimore County Office of Planning, had a tremendous amount of valuable information pertaining to the proposed Renaissance Redevelopment Pilot Program. As one of the principal architects of the proposed program, Jeff was thorough in his overview of the site selection process and the collaborative planning process that follows.

Although the legislation for the program has not been voted on as of yet, GTC is following the ongoing development and will stay abreast of any new information in regards to the pilot program.

Our December membership meeting also promises to be extremely valuable for its members as Klaus Philipsen, an integral member of the County's design review panel, joins GTC for a briefing. As you may or may not know, design review (of architectural and site plans) is mandatory for new projects and major building renovations in Towson. GTC members will learn first-hand how design review actually works and how property owners can best negotiate the process.
Finally, GTC is celebrating the holidays in style at one of Towson's newest hot spots: Bahama Breeze. Members can enjoy a taste of the islands right in their own backyard while mixing and mingling with Towson's movers and shakers. Interested business professionals may call GTC to inquire about this networking opportunity.

Greater Towson Committee Calendar
> Dec. 11: Holiday Party at Bahama Breeze, 5:30-7:30 p.m., $25 registration fee.

> Dec. 17: Membership meeting at Sheppard Pratt conference center, 8 a.m., no charge.
