The Greater Towson Committee (GTC) concluded another banner year in June, celebrating many accomplishments in support of making Towson a continuously thriving community.   On June 29, at the Conference Center at Sheppard Pratt, the GTC presented its 2004-2005 Annual Meeting to board members, elected officials and community leaders.

During the meeting, incoming officers were announced, including:   C. William "Bud" Clark, President; Barbara Beth Kernan, President-elect; George Hale, Secretary; James M. Railey, Treasurer; John F. Cavanaugh, VP-Marketing; William P. Monk, VP-Government Relations; Dino C. LaFiandra, VP-Development and Planning and Harvey S. Brooks, Jr., VP-Transportation and Parking.

James M. Railey of Heritage Properties and John F Cavanaugh of Cavanaugh Capital Management presented the organization's Annual Report to members and guests.   The work of the GTC's Development and Planning Committee, chaired by Dino C. LaFiandra of Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, was lauded for its work in advocating legislation relieving height restrictions for properties within the BM-CT zone of Towson.   Through coordinated efforts with Councilman Gardina, the committee's version was passed unanimously by the County Council.

The Transportation and Parking Committee, chaired by Harvey S. Brooks, Jr., of Jones Lang LaSalle Americas, Inc, continued to work on the Towson Signage Initiative due to be completed during 2005.   The committee also continues to pursue options of alleviating congestion and eliminating speeding on the section of York Road between Bosley and Dulaney Valley.

The organization expressed appreciated to numerous volunteers, corporate sponsors and officials who helped make the GTC so successful during the 2004-2005 year.   A special thank you was expressed to Robert E. Latshaw, Jr. for his dedication, contributions and extraordinary leadership as he completed his term as the 2004-2005 President.

The GTC is embarking on an aggressive agenda for 2005-2006.   With Bud Clark and Bebe Kernan at the helm of an already active board of directors, the organization's goals are to increase membership by 40% and generate additional revenue to support programs and studies designed to improve the residential, corporate and institutional quality of life in Towson.

The mission of the Greater Towson Committee is to promote investment is Towson, through redevelopment and revitalization of property and infrastructure for the benefit of the public good.
