Towson is not all work and no play. Our town has numerous public parks and gardens for you to walk, picnic or just sit back and relax. Every public school has multiple playing fields, playground areas, tennis and basketball courts. Playgrounds can be found all over Towson.

The gardens at the old Court house in the core of Towson have a series of award-winning flower beds, reflecting ponds and a central fountain and plaza area which hosts the annual Christmas tree lighting and holiday season festivities as well as the summertime “Under the Stars” concert series.

For children 14 and under, the Towson Recreation Council sponsor teams in every age group in almost every sport. We also have a Towson branch of the YMCA and Towson University has a program which allows community residents the use of its facilities. Our senior citizens enjoy the activities offered by the Towson AARP and the Towson Bykota House. Furthermore, every church group and civic organization sponsor ongoing activities and events open to all Towson residents.
